pediatrics

The Department of Pediatrics serves the needs of children and adolescents from newborn until the 22nd birthday. Well child visits (physicals) are scheduled at regular intervals as appropriate for the child’s age (see chart below). The well child visit includes learning about a child’s health history, performing a physical examination, and giving needed immunizations. As pediatricians, we are also extremely interested in a child’s developmental status from infancy through school age. And of course, we care for children when they are ill.

In addition to our staff physicians, we also have residents from New England Medical Center who see patients in Pediatrics. Residents are fully licensed doctors who are going through additional training. All of the care they provide is supervised by one of our on-staff pediatric physicians.

For a detailed list of our providers, their backgrounds and any languages they speak, please go to our provider page.

We recognize that sometimes, having a child who is under the weather can be concerning. So in addition to seeing children in the department, we offer nursing advice over the phone for the care of minor illnesses and to determine whether or not an ill child should be seen.

We also offer a special evening once a week that is dedicated to adolescent health. We call it “Teen Clinic” and it is a special time set aside for teens who prefer to be seen in a setting designed for people their age.
