The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has been affecting the way we access health insurance in Massachusetts since October 1, 2013. Since then, South Boston Community Health Center has been continuously trained on the health care reform policies and procedures to better inform our patients and staff.

We currently have four Certified Application Counselors that can assist consumers in applying for coverage under the new ACA guidelines. Being a CAC Organization, the Health Center is able to assist in online and paper applications, both of which will screen you for the same health insurance options.

For those using the online application on MAhealthconnector.org, we have recently installed two self-help work stations. These computer stations allow quick and convenient access to the single, state-wide application for all MassHealth coverage types, ConnectorCare Plans and Qualified Health Plans. Having them located within our Health Insurance Services department also allows access to the assistance of our counselors. Our trained staff will be able to guide you through the process one step at a time.

Don't miss your chance! Open Enrollment is ending soon, so people seeking coverage without financial assistance need to apply by March 31, 2014. However, those applying for coverage and seeking help paying for their health insurance can apply at any time throughout the year.
