Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary
South Boston Community Health Center is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and highly skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Urgent Care team. This role provides high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced setting, addressing non-emergency acute illnesses and injuries. The NP/PA will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and support staff to deliver timely, culturally competent, and comprehensive healthcare to our diverse patient population.
Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted RN and NP license in Massachusetts or PA license in Massachusetts.
- National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or a similar clinical setting.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills a plus (especially in Spanish or Albanian).
Representative Job Duties
- Provide direct patient care for walk-in patients with acute, non-life-threatening conditions (e.g., minor infections, sprains, lacerations, mild respiratory issues).
- Conduct physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe appropriate treatment plans.
- Perform procedures such as wound care, suturing, splinting, and incision & drainage, within scope of practice.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, follow-up care, and preventive health measures.
- Collaborate with other clinicians and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff training.
- Comply with all clinical protocols, infection control procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Engage in continuing education and professional development.
