Urgent Care Registered Nurse – Part Time
Job Summary
The Urgent Care Registered Nurse (RN) provides timely, high-quality clinical care to patients presenting with non-life-threatening conditions in a fast-paced urgent care setting within the South Boston Community Health Center (SBCHC) — a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
This position plays a key role in ensuring efficient patient flow, clinical accuracy, and the delivery of compassionate, mission-driven care focused on health equity, accessibility, and comprehensive primary care.
Qualifications

- Strong clinical assessment and triage skills.

- Understanding of public health principles, social determinants of health, and population-based care
Experience:
- Active RN license in good standing.
- Current BLS certification, ACLS/PALS preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience (urgent care, ER, or ambulatory care preferred).
- Experience working in an FQHC, community health center, or similar setting.
- Bilingual in Spanish, Creole or Albanian highly desirable.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (e.g. EPIC) prefered
Representative Job Duties
- Triage patients on arrival, assess acuity, and prioritize care according to clinical needs.
- Perform a wide range of clinical duties, including taking vital signs, administering medications, providing wound care, immunizations, point-of-care testing, and EKGs, as well as assisting with procedures.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Support providers during exams, treatments, and procedures.
- Deliver patient education and discharge instructions, ensuring understanding of treatment plans and follow-up care.
- Recognize and respond to urgent or emergent situations, escalating to providers or emergency services as appropriate.
- Maintain infection control and safety standards consistent with OSHA, CDC, and SBCHC policies.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team—including medical assistants, providers, and behavioral health staff—to support
