Smoking Cessation

At SBCHC, we want to see you healthy.

For patients whose goal is to quit smoking, we offer a Smoking Cessation program, available through our tobacco treatment specialist or even through your own provider. This program provides support, counseling and treatments to assist with all your smoking cessation needs.

Insurances that cover these visits are MassHealth, Medicaid, Neighborhood Health Plan, BMC HealthNet Plan, and Commonwealth Care.*

Patients with private health plans should check on which services are covered by their plan type. Many private insurance companies would like patients to use Quit Works, a telephone/online counseling program. Others will cover nicotine replacement therapy or medications to help with cessation.

Medicare will cover an office visit if a patient has been diagnosed with a smoking related illness. Prescription coverage follows Medicare Part D protocol or 20% of Medicare Part B deductible.
