Urgent Care at 409 West Broadway

South Boston Community Health Center offers two convenient options for your Urgent Care needs:

    • South Boston Health Seaport Urgent Care at 505 Congress Street; and
    • our Urgent Care Department at 409 West Broadway

Urgent Care services are available to community members who need same day treatment for illness or non-life-threatening conditions. As always, you should use your primary care provider (PCP) during normal business hours for non-emergent conditions or symptoms.
Your PCP knows your medical history and should be your first line of defense for any illness or injury that isn't a medical emergency. They should also be your regular resource for preventive care. If you don't have a primary care provider, we are happy to help you choose one and establish care at South Boston Community Health Center.

If your primary care provider is not available, our urgent care services are a great option for you. At our 409 West Broadway location, our clinical teams offer medical care for immediate, non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries. Same-day appointments are available. We are located on the first floor of our building at 409 West Broadway.

HMO Plans Require Insurance Authorization for Urgent Care Services

If you have an HMO or POS plan (vs. PPO), your insurance requires prior authorization from your insurance-assigned PCP to cover the cost of your urgent care visit. This is required because you are accessing out-of-network care. This does not apply to SBCHC patients, who have a PCP at 409 West Broadway because we are in-network.

If you do not get authorization, you will be responsible for the cost of your urgent care visit.

How do you obtain prior authorization for your urgent care visit

  1. Call your primary care provider and ask them to request an authorization from your insurance plan for your urgent care visit.
  2. Provide your PCP the following information:
    • Address: South Boston Community Health Center, 409 West Broadway, South Boston, MA 02127
    • Phone: (617) 269-7500
    • The name and NPI number of the provider you are seeing at SBCHC Urgent Care (feel free call us if you don’t know):
  3. Once you get the authorization number, send it to us through a MyChart message.

If you have any questions regarding the information above, please call the South Boston Community Health Center Billing department at (617) 464-5891.
