Nurse Manager
Job Summary
SBCHC is currently seeking two full time Nurse Managers; one to oversee the Family Medicine, Medical Specialties, and Pediatric departments, and one to oversee the Adult Medicine department, Urgent Care, and Specialty Nurses. The Nurse Manager will report to the Director of Nursing, with additional support from the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Nursing Practice Manager.
Qualifications
- Valid and unencumbered Massachusetts RN license.
- 3 years of nursing experience required.
- Leadership/management experience preferred.
- Nurse Manager must demonstrate excellent organization and attention to detail, ability of follow specific instructions, ability to communicate well across many socio-economic and educational backgrounds and a desire to lead and mentor others.
The Nurse Manager will be expected to work a 4-day work week. Days will vary in length from 8-11 hours based on the schedule that is developed, for a total of 40 hours. This will include one evening until closing and, in addition to the standard 40 hours, one 5-hour Saturday clinical shift will be expected consisting of no more than one Saturday per month but at a cadence that ensures appropriate clinical coverage by nursing staff on Saturdays.
Representative Job Duties
The Nurse Manager will spend 50% of their time doing the clinical work of a Staff Nurse at SBCHC, and the other 50% of their time providing direct supervision of nursing staff to include Medical Assistants, Staff Nurses and department front desk Patient Support Associates.
Direct supervision includes but is not limited to staff training, ensuring work is covered and assigned both to meet the needs of the Health Center and the needs of the employee, developing workflows to optimize the clinical work of the Health Center as it relates to the Nursing Department, and payroll tasks such as time off and timecard approvals.
