Pediatric Registered Nurse

Job Summary

The Pediatric Registered Nurse promotes and restores the health of pediatric patients by providing, delegating, evaluating, and coordinating comprehensive professional nursing care through the nursing process. This position may also oversee the clinical care provided by Medical Assistants and other support staff.

Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited school of nursing
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Two or more years of pediatric nursing experience preferred
  • COVID-19 booster required

Representative Job Duties

  • Utilize all steps of the nursing process to deliver timely, safe, and appropriate patient/family care
  • Conduct systematic assessments of patients and families for both overt and subtle signs and symptoms
  • Collect and prioritize pertinent patient data using appropriate assessment techniques
  • Involve patients, families, and other healthcare providers in data collection when appropriate
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively in both oral and written formats, following departmental policies
  • Apply critical thinking to derive and document accurate diagnoses based on assessments
  • Identify and document expected outcomes individualized to each patient, providing follow-up care as needed
  • Educate patients and families on illness management, health maintenance, and disease prevention
  • Provide age-specific care and seek additional resources when working with patients outside the typical pediatric population
  • Appropriately delegate patient care activities to qualified team members
  • Perform technical procedures including phlebotomy, IV insertion, point-of-care testing, and equipment operation
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment by following risk management practices, including proper labeling and removal of broken or expired items
  • Ensure compliance with all practice standards, policies, procedures, protocols, and regulations
  • Complete all mandatory training and documentation requirements
  • Remain calm and perform effectively during high-volume periods and emergency situations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
