Position Summary

South Boston Community Health Center is seeking an entry-level IT Help Desk Support professional to assist with Windows/PC hardware day-to-day technology support across the organization. This role is ideal for a motivated student interested in gaining hands-on experience in IT support within a collaborative healthcare environment. The individual will provide first-level technical assistance to staff, troubleshoot hardware and M365 software issues, and assist with general IT operations under the direction of the IT team.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing coursework in Information Technology, infrastructure, operations, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and desktop applications
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
  • Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous IT support experience, internship, or co-op
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems
  • Exposure to Microsoft 365 or similar productivity tools
  • Interest in healthcare or nonprofit environments

Representative Job Duties

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level help desk support for staff via phone, email, and in person
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic hardware, M365, and connectivity issues
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding activities (computer setup, account access, equipment inventory)
  • Support Windows desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and common peripherals
  • Assist with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, OneDrive)
  • Maintain documentation for common issues and solutions
  • Escalate more complex technical issues to senior IT staff as needed
  • Assist with IT projects and general administrative tasks as assigned
  • Follow established IT policies, security practices, and HIPAA requirements
