Medical Assistant – Part Time
Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of a provider or registered nurse, the Per Diem Medical Assistant provides clinical services to Center patients and also provides administrative support to the assigned patient area.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Certification in Medical Assistant Training or enrollment in nursing school, physician assistant school or completion of bachelor’s degree with health science training.
Representative Job Duties

Obtain and record patient vital signs; perform point-of-care testing, EKGs, and screenings for both primary care and specialty patients in an outpatient setting.

Assist registered nurses and providers with clinical care, including vaccine and medication administration, procedures, pre-visit planning, and care coordination.

Greet patients and provide non-confidential information to patients and visitors in a professional manner.

Answer telephone calls, take messages accurately, and direct urgent or emergency calls to the appropriate staff.

Ensure patient information is accurate and up to date in the electronic medical record system.

Coordinate the retrieval of outside medical records for new patients and those receiving outside specialty care.

Maintain a clean, organized, and well-functioning outpatient clinic, including stocking rooms, rooming patients, and managing patient flow from arrival to departure, as well as scheduling follow-up visits.

Troubleshoot operational issues such as provider delays, late arrivals, complex patient needs, and staffing adjustments as needed.

Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring patients feel staff are courteous, efficient, and genuinely concerned for their well-being.

Communicate with providers and patients regarding patient volume, wait times, and schedule delays.

Foster positive working relationships with all health center departments, supervisory staff, and administrative staff.

Perform additional duties as requested by supervisors to ensure efficient clinic operations and quality patient care.

Order and maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies; ensure all equipment is clean, sterilized, in good working order, and report repair needs promptly.

Follow infection control policies to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Transport patients via wheelchair within the facility when needed.

Carry out other assigned duties to support clinic operations.
